Fleet Week 2007 Airshow in "The City"

Ever wonder how many simulator hours demonstration pilots log?

I do.

This thought crossed my mind while watching a formation of four Navy Blue Angel F-18s Flying Paint (250 KIAS with 18" separation) 200 feet AGL over San Francisco Bay this weekend.

They were close. Very close. I saw how close because I had one of the best seats in the house: a sailboat under their flight path in the middle of San Francisco Bay.
